Practical Uses of AI in Electrical Construction
The presentation "Practical Uses of AI in Electrical Construction: Creating Your Own Chatbot" by Jared Christman focuses on how artificial intelligence, particularly generative AI and chatbots, can be practically applied in the electrical construction industry. Christman, with decades of experience in CAD, BIM, and construction technology, emphasizes AI as a tool to enhance productivity, not a replacement for human expertise. The presentation covers types of AI—generative, predictive, computer vision, and robotics—and their relevance to construction workflows. It highlights the importance of effective prompting (prompt engineering) to get accurate and useful outputs from AI, including giving AI a role, purpose, constraints, and tone. He will also advise on hot to ensuring your data privacy and the importance of clear, specific, and structured prompts to optimize AI-generated responses for real-world construction needs, such as drafting RFIs, emails, and technical comparisons. If time permits, he will follow up with a live demo on how to create your own chatbot from beginning to end.
This course is free and exclusive to ECABC members only.
