Virtual Tech Talk: Standard for Integrated Systems Testing of Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems

The Standard for Integrated Systems Testing of Fire Protection and Life Safety Systems (S1001) introduces new requirements for buildings, with fire alarm systems often playing a central role in integrated fire protection systems. However, confusion remains about the standard's purpose and the responsibilities of various roles.

Calvin Gray, P.Eng

Calvin Gray has been an engineer since 1990. He has been involved in the design a wide range of buildings with the majority being industrial, institutional, and large residential buildings. Most recently Calvin worked for the Office of the Fire Commissioner (Fire Safety Engineer) and the City of Victoria (Chief Building & Plumbing Inspector). Calvin presently works for the Capital Regional District as the Manager and Chief Building Inspector. Calvin is a past member of CCBFC and the SFPE BC Chapter. Calvin is active with the Building Officials Association of BC where he is especially interested in education and professional development for new members.
