Vancouver Island Chapter Meeting

The event will feature a presentation by Legislative Journalist Rob Shaw (CHEK News, Glacier Media and more) who will share his inside view as one of BC’s leading political reporters just nine days before the provincial election. The changes in BC’s political landscape over the last week has made this one possibly one of the closest and most compelling elections in recent BC history.

We will also be joined by representatives from the BC Construction Safety Alliance who will be presenting an overview of ECABC’s new Health and Safety Manual. Access to this low cost manual, which saves contractors money and enhances their safety protocols, is a key benefit in your ECABC membership.

It'll be a great opportunity to network with peers in the industry, and will also include dinner and a Chapter meeting!

He’s also the host of the weekly politics podcast and TV show Political Capital. Rob co-wrote with Richard Zussman the national best-selling book A Matter of Confidence, which chronicled the defeat of the BC Liberal government and the rise of the BC NDP.

About the Health & Safety Manual

The Electrical Contractors Association of BC (ECABC) has partnered with the BC Construction Safety Alliance (BCCSA) and ECABC contractor member safety professionals to develop an updated program tailored to help attendees create a customized safety manual specific to their electrical contracting company.

With the purchase of the manual, your company will be connected with a local BCCSA Regional Safety Advisor for a mandatory minimum of 14 guided hours of consultation to ensure the manual meets your team’s safety needs.

Key areas covered include:

  • Understanding the fundamentals of Safety Program requirements
  • Navigating WorkSafeBC OHS Regulatory requirements
  • Meeting industry and company-specific requirements
  • Complying with COR standards
    • Safety form templates
    • Injury management / Return to Work procedures
